Daniel Grover Parker, SR., of Waco died October 21, 2010 at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
Dan was born on October 29, 1940 in Easley SC, a son of the late Otis Clifton and Martha Traber Parker, Sr. He was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, American Legion Post #100, and Cherryville Lodge #505 AF & AM. Mr. Parker was a retired longline driver for Carolina Freight for 30 years and faithfully served his country in the US Navy.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas Parker and a sister Alda Beam.
Survivors are his wife of 49 years Barbara Ann Cash Parker, , daughter Danna Parker Banning and husband Allen of Nashville, NC, a son Dan Parker, Jr. of Cherryville, sisters Sarah Sigmon and husband Darril of Cherryville, and Mildred Parker, of Cherryville, and a brother, O. C. Parker, Jr. and wife Dean of Cherryville, four grandchildren Lauren Parker, Meredith B. Mitchell and husband Andrew, Gracen Banning and Courtney Banning.
Graveside services will be held Sunday at 2 PM at Cherryville City Memorial Cemetery with Mr. David Blanton officiating. The family will receive friends Saturday at Carpenter’s Funeral Home from 6-8 PM.
