Cynthia Kaye Abernathy Mellon, 57, of 709 Self St., died January 26, 2011 at Carolina Medical Center.
 
She was born in Cleveland Co. on Dec. 5, 1953 a daughter of the late Edward Lee and Velma Hoyle Abernathy. She was a homemaker and formerly employed by Cherry Knit.
 
In addition to her parents she is predeceased by a brother Edward Lee Abernathy, Jr. and two sisters Doris Lanier and Jane Bradley.
 
Survivors include her daughter April Black of Cherryville, a grandson Kaleb Black of Cherryville, brothers Doc Abernathy and Guy Abernathy both of Cherryville and two sisters Diane Richards and Lillian Goode both of Lincolnton.
 
Graveside services will be held Tuesday at 11 AM at City Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends after the services at the cemetery.
