Clyde Buford Brown, age 85, of Cherryville, died Thursday, January 5, 2012 after an extended illness.  He was born April 27, 1926 in Lincoln County, the son of the late John F. and Mary Armstrong Brown.  A veteran of the US Navy WWII, Clyde was a member of the First Baptist Church, and retired with 43 years of service as a long line driver from Carolina Freight Carriers. Others than his parents,  he was preceded death by two brothers, Paul Brown and John H. Brown and four  sisters, Wanda Fay Bridges, Janet Young, Helen Watts, and Linda Mason.
 
Survivors:  Margaret Ramsey Brown, Sons and spouses: Danny and Martha Brown, of Cherryville,  Steve and Pat Brown, of Rocky Mount, N. C., Greg Brown, of Gastonia, a Daughter Pam and Bruce Johnson of Vale.  Sister,  Shirley Bolt, of Shelby.   Six Grandchildren, Jason Brown and Amy, Amanda Johnson Coggins and Kevin, Justin Brown, Lesley Hoffman, Scott Tharrington and Candy, Candace Tharrington and Five Great Grandchildren.
 
Funeral Services will be held Sunday, January 8, at 3:00 PM at First Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Vince Hefner officiating.  Burial will follow in City Memorial Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at First Baptist Church from 2:00 – 2:45 PM prior to the service and at other time the family will be at 200 Dale Drive.
