Cecil Ross Jenkins, Sr., 90 of 603 Eaker Circle died June 16, 2010 at Lincoln Medical Center. He was born August 7, 1919 in Lincoln County a son of the Late James L. Jenkins and Ada Maude Ross Jenkins. Cecil was a retired driver from Carolina Freight Carriers and was a WW II Veteran. He was a member of First Baptist Church and a member of the Carolina Singers.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Martha Mae McGinnis Jenkins in 2007, and five late brothers and sisters.
Survivors include two sons, Cecil R. Jenkins, Jr. and wife Sonia of Concord, and Lester Jenkins of Cherryville a daughter, Cathy J. Nesheim and husband Scott of Gastonia, seven grandchildren, Melissa Koontz, Ross Jenkins, Celeste Killar, Kahla Jenkins, Scott Jenkins, Michael Nesheim and Allie Nesheim, two brothers, Max Jenkins and Webb Jenkins both of Lincolnton, three sisters, Rachel Laney, of Iron Station Dot Homesley of Lincolnton and Nancy Travis of Maiden.
Funeral Services will be held at First Baptist Church on Saturday, June 19, 2010 at 11:00 AM with Dr. Vince Hefner officiating, burial to follow in City Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Carpenter’s Funeral Home from 6:00 – 8:00 PM on Friday, June 18.
