Carl S. Kester, 90, of St. Mark’s Church Rd., Bessemer City, died Sunday Oct. 25, 2009 at Peak Resources, Cherryville.
He was born on August 1, 1919 in Gaston co. a son of the late William Edgar and Sarah Frances Neill Kester. He was a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church, a retired farmer and security guard. Carl was a veteran of the US Army serving during WW II.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Elizabeth Elaine Carpenter Kester in 1977.
Survivors include his son Gary D. Kester and wife Kathy of Shelby and Myrtle Beach, grandson David Kester and wife Robin of Shelby and great grandson Samuel Kester of Shelby.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 3 PM Carpenter’s Funeral Home with Rev. Leonard Bumgardner officiating with burial in Shady Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 2-3 PM at the funeral home.
