Carl R. Huskins Sr. , age 78, of 1630 Shelby Hwy,
Cherryville died Saturday, January 24, 2009 at the home of his
daughter, Tena Wise. He was born May 30, 1930 in York County, SC, the
son of the late Floyd Monroe and Cornelia Gordon Huskins. Carl was a
member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Veteran of the US Army, and a
retired long line driver for Carolina Freight Carriers, Inc. He was
preceded in death by his parents, wife, Viola Thrift Huskins, a
daughter Carla Ann Huskins and son Freddy Thrift and eleven brothers
and sisters.
Survivors: Son: Carl Ronald Huskins, Jr. and wife Linda of Vale, N. C.
Daughters: Jane H. Farris and Husband Jimmy of Vale, N. C.
Tena H. Wise and Husband Greg of Lincolnton, N. C.
Sisters: Ruby Brakefield of Hickory Grove, S. C. 10 Grandchildren 9 Great Grandchildren
Funeral Services will be conducted at Mt. Zion Baptist Church,
Tuesday January 27, 2009 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Wayne Key officiating.
Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The body will be placed
in the church 30 minutes prior to the service.
The family is at the home of Tena Wise, Shoal Road, Lincolnton and
will receive friends from 6:00PM to 8:00PM, Monday, January 26, 2009 at
Carpenter’s Funeral Home.
