James Alan “Bud” Flowers, “Rosebud” 75, of Bessemer City went to be with the Lord and his loving wife on April17, 2010 at his residence.

He was born on August 1, 1934 in Gaston Co. a son of the late Conley James and Wayburn Rhyne Flowers.

 The family would like to offer a special “Thanks” to Hospice of Cleveland Co.

Bud was formerly employed by the Nuway Mills and retired driver with 30 years of service from Carolina Freight Carriers in Cherryville and he was a member of Westview Baptist Church, Gastonia.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years Mary Lee “Diddy” Flowers in May of 2007 infant sister Aldean Flowers and his  grandparents  Fannie Easter and Henry George Rhyne

Survivors include four daughters and spouses, Debbie and Harold Matheson of Kings Mountain, Janice and Roy Barker, Sr.  of Bessemer City, Donna and Daniel Hall, Sr. of Lincolnton and Sandy Flowers of the home, grandchildren Shannon Stamey McCloskey and Jay, Cindy Matheson Carpenter and Chad, Robie Matheson and Windy, Alaina Hall Bridges and Terry, Alan Haynes, Hanna Anders, Daniel Hall, Jr.  Roy Barker, Jr. and Karen, and Jason Pender and Lea Ann,  great grandchildren Logan Brandon, Allie McCloskey, Lane and Stephanie Carpenter, Hailee, Madison, and Cody Barker, Jazlee Bridges, Hunter Pender, Danielle Matheson, and Tyler and Jeremy Bridges, and one sister Mary Jo Flowers Hartsell and husband Ken of Cherryville.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 3 PM in Westview Baptist  Church with Rev. Jerry Millwood officiating with burial in Mt. Beulah Baptist Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends  Tuesday  from 6-8 PM  at Carpenter’s Funeral Home and at other times at the home.
