Robert “Bob” M. Tallent, 62 of 3405 Hwy 182, died December 31, in Mecklenburg County. Bob was born September 11, 1948 in Cleveland County a son of the late Dwight and Catherine Martin Tallent. He attended Mt. Zion Baptist Church, retired U.S. Postal Service as a Lincoln County Rural Mail Carrier and farmer, founding member of the Lincoln County Marine Corp League and, Vietnam Veterains of Lincoln County he was also the 2008 Lincoln County Veteran of the Year and 32nd Degree Master Mason.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother KellyTallent.
Survivors include his wife Sue Black Tallent of the home, a son Clayton R. Tallent, Vale, a daughter Annie Tallent, Cherryville, father-in-law, John Lee Black, of Cherryville, a brother Dennis Tallent and wife Carolyn of Vale, a sister Ginger Lusk and husband Leroy, of Vale, several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday, January 3, 2011 at 3:00 PM at Mt. Zion Baptist Church with Rev. Wayne Key officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends January 2, 2011 from 4:00 – 6:00 PM at Carpenter’s Funeral Home.
