Bobby Gene Cash, Sr., 72, of 203 Carolina Dr., died August 2, 2010 at Hospice of Kings Mountain.
Mr. Cash was born in Cleveland Co. on Sept. 10, 1937 a son of the late Mural Melton and Mable Sarah Proctor Cash. He was retired long line driver for Carolina Freight Carriers with over 31 years of service, member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church, where he belonged to the Pairs and Spares Sunday School Class, and as former Deacon. Bob was an avid golfer and sportsman and was inducted into the Cherryville Baseball Hall of Fame.
Bobby was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother to his wife of 31 years Sheila Claxton Cash, sons Bobby Gene Cash, Jr. and wife Joy, Jeff Cash and wife Cynthia, and Chris Cash all of Cherryville, a daughter Wendy Gunter and husband Neal of Cherryville, step son David Roberts and wife Charlotte of Gastonia, step daughter Monica Matola and husband Ken of Charlotte twelve grandchildren Cain Cash, Camryn Cash, Chad Cash, Quinton Cash, Ryan Gunter, Adam Gunter, Travis Cash, Lanie Cash, Brittany Roberts, Summer Roberts, Elena Matola, and Matt Matola two brothers Bill Cash and wife Ann and Melton Cash and wife Sharon both of Cherryville, and three sisters Nancy Clark and husband Nelson of Lincolnton, Barbara Parker and husband Dan of Waco, and Margaret Lankford and husband Forest of Cherryville.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 AM Mt. Zion Baptist Church with Rev. Wayne Key officiating with burial to follow in City Memorial Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Wednesday at Carpenter’s Funeral Home from 6-8 PM and at other times at the home.
