Irvin William “Bill” Walker, age 71 of Mary’s Grove Road, formerly of Herrin, Ill and Marion, VA , died October 10, 2011 at Cleveland Regional Medical Center, Shelby, NC.
Bill was born in Herrin, Ill. on August 9, 1940 a son of the late Jack and Mary Will Walker. He was a member of St. Dorothy’s Catholic Church, Lincolnton, NC where he was a member of the maintenance committee. He was employed as a consultant with CP Metals, and formerly was plant manager for Carmet, Marion Mining and Bolt, and Dotson Wheel.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son Anthony Walker, and a brother Roger Walker.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years Linda Bione Walker, a daughter Tammy W. Wallace of Cherryville, a son William Scott Walker and wife Alisha of Marion Va., two grandchildren Jennifer Ferrara and Anthony Scott Ferrara of Cherryville, and two sisters Jackie McNew and husband Butch and Judy Brannon both of Herrin Ill.
A Funeral Mass will be held Friday at 10 AM at St. Dorothy’s Catholic Church with Father Matthew Buetttner as celebrant. Burial in City Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday at Carpenter’s Funeral Home from 6-8 PM and at other times at the home. The Rosary will be recited Thursday at 7:30 PM at the funeral home.
