Betty Sue Cook Rowland, 81 of Dallas Bessemer City Highway died Feb. 13, 2011 at Kings Mountain Hospital,
Mrs. Rowland was born in Gaston Co. on Sept. 23, 1929 a daughter of the late Ernest William and Gertrude Phipps Cook. She was a longtime member of Myrtle United Methodist Church, homemaker and helped her husband the late Laylon Lee Rowland in bookkeeping business.
In addition to her husband and parents she is preceded in death by brother Reynolds Cook and sisters Imogene Barber and Monteen Dorsey.
She is survived by her children Tim Rowland and wife Lynn of Grover, Susan Poston and husband Wayne of Cherryville, and Gary Rowland of Gastonia, grandchildren, Laura Crawford and husband Casey of Cherryville, Ryan Poston and fiancée Erica Dodd of Cherryville, Leigh Anne Simmons and husband David of Fuquay Varina and Sasha Osada and husband Matthew of Asheville, great grandchildren Dawson Simmons, Ella Jane Osada , and Grant Osada and a brother Raymond Cook of Gastonia
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 3 PM in Myrtle United Methodist Church with Rev. Rick Cloninger and Rev. John Barnhart officiating. Burial will follow in Hollywood Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday at Carpenter’s Funeral Home from 6-8 and at other times at the home of Tim and Lynn Rowland, 317 Briarcliff Rd., Grover, NC.
