Betty Jean Russ Dover, 80 of 1113 West Old Post Road, died January 25, 2011 at her residence. Betty was born October 4, 1930 in Cleveland County a daughter of the Late Irwin Edgar Russ, Sr. and Mae Barrett Russ. She was a member of First Baptist Church and graduated from Waco High School, she was a Teacher’s Assistant for Cleveland County Schools for 33 years.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Thomas Steven Dixon, two brothers, Hubert Russ and Irwin E. Russ, Jr.,
Survivors include her husband George David Dover of the home, step-mother, Christine Russ of Cherryville, four daughters, Dianne Dixon of Cherryville, Amelia Wilson and husband P.L., Jr. of Cherryville, Ginger Norman and husband Donny of Lawndale, Robin Davis and husband Wesley of Shelby, three brothers, Kenneth E. Russ and wife Louise of Shelby, Garry Russ and wife Dianne of Cherryville, William “Bill” Russ of Cherryville, two sisters, Ann Brown and husband Wayne of McLeanville, NC and Charmaine Laney and husband Roger of Cherryville, sister-in-law Louise Russ, of Greensboro, six grandchildren, Tommy Huffstetler and wife Missy, Shane Huffstetler and wife Dee Anna, Justin Norman, Summer Norman, Megan Davis and Russ Davis, six Great Grandchildren, Monica Causby, Cody Huffstetler, Levi Huffstetler, Lucus Huffstetler, Hannah Huffstetler and Logan Huffstetler.
Funeral services will be held Friday, January 28, 2011 at 2:00 PM at First Baptist Church, with Rev. Dr. Vince Hefner officiating. Burial will follow in City Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday January 27, 2011 from 5:30 – 7:30 PM at Carpenter’s Funeral Home, Cherryville.
