ANDY HOVIS
 
Andrew Christopher Hovis, 20 of 317 Bud Black Road died November 12, 2010 at Carolina Medical Center in Charlotte.  Andy was born March 12, 1990 in Mecklenburg County a son of Mark Anthony and Donna Blanton Hovis of the home.
 
Andy was a 2008 graduate of Cherryville High School and earned his Eagle Scout from Troop #323 in 2008. He was a student at Gaston College majoring in Videography and Broadcasting, was an avid skateboarder, always had a smile on his face and liked Bob Marley’s music because it is always “Happy”. Andy also was employed by TAS Drug in Cherryville and Gaston College in the video dept.
 
In addition to his parents he is survived by his brother Mark Hovis, Jr. of Crouse, a sister Amber Hovis of Crouse, maternal grandparents Gladys Lail of Bessemer and Kathy and Howard Elkins of Bessemer City, paternal grandparents Paul and Greta Hovis of Mt. Holly, several aunts, uncles, cousins and numerous friends.
 
A Celebration of Andy’s life will be held Tuesday at 7 PM at Carpenter’s Funeral Home with Rev. Wayne Key and Rev. Andrew Bradford officiating. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 4-6:45 PM and at other times at the home.
