Alpha Nell Rome, 93, of South Eight St. formerly of Cherryville, died January 1, 2011 at Carolina Medical Center Lincoln.
She was born on October 20, 1917 in Lincoln Co. a daughter of the late Rev. James William and Priscilla Snider Self. Mrs. Rome was a member of North Brook Baptist Church and a homemaker.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband Luther Taylor Rome, grandson Ricky Towery and Johnny and Steven Duvall, ;granddaughter Sharon Towery, siblings Getha Jenks, Ruffin Self, Lela Fitch, John Self, Inez Hastings, J.G. Self, and Ralph Self.
Survivors include her daughters and son in laws Barbara and Esper Towery of Cherryville, Charlene and Charles Sisk of Lincolnton, step daughters and husbands Judy and Jin McCurry of Lincolnton, Jeri Loftin of Bessemer City, and step son and wife Ken and Shelia Towery of Vale, grandchildren Barbara Carol Shelton and husband Brad, Krista Sharlene Devine and husband Mike, Phyllis Elaine Robbins and husband Robby, Charles Wayne Sisk, Anna Duvall, April Hull and Lisa Wright , ten great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at North Brook Baptist Church at 11 AM with Rev. Ray Pennell officiating with burial in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday from 6-8 PM at Carpenter’s Funeral Home.
